2040 – Opening Night

Damon Gameau / Australia / 2019 / 92 mins / English / Documentary

“Gameau’s noble motives and positive vibes are hard to fault.”
THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

2040 is an innovative feature documentary that looks to the future, but is vitally important now.

Award-winning director Damon Gameau (That Sugar Film) embarks on a journey to explore what the future would look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them into the mainstream. Structured as a visual letter to his 4-year-old daughter, Damon blends traditional documentary footage with dramatised sequences and high-end visual effects to create a vision board for his daughter and our planet.

We’re delighted to welcome director Damon Gameau and Amanda Cahill (CEO, The Next Economy) for a post-film Q&A moderated by Malinda Wink (Executive Director of Good Pitch Australia and Shark Island Institute)

This film is suitable for all ages. Can’t make it to opening night? 2040 is also screening as a part of our CineSeeds Program on Sunday May 19. A HRAFF Film Pass cannot be redeemed as this is a special event.
