After a competitive application process, the Human Rights Arts and Film Festival Board are excited to announce the appointment of our new CEO Imogen Thomas from 12 August 2019.

Imogen combines a diverse suite of experiences and insights from working in the creative industries to marketing and business development.

Board Chair Evelyn Tadros stated that “we are delighted to welcome Imogen to lead the HRAFF team and to see the new and innovative directions that she will take our organisation!”

Her recent positions as Festival Director of festival21 and Head of Production of TEDxMelbourne, leave her well placed to curate events for social impact. We’re excited to see where she leads HRAFF over the next two years.

On accepting the role, Imogen remarked that ‘there has never been a more important time for us as a society to embrace the insights and tools that our creative industries offer for driving meaningful, social change. HRAFF has an exceptional record of success in this regard, I am both grateful and excited to join the team in the continued pursuit of this vision.’

At this point, the Board want to express their deepest gratitude to our outgoing CEO Aleta Moriarty. Her two years with HRAFF have seen her grow HRAFF’s audience and reach, despite the many challenges that the organisation has faced, thanks to her absolute perseverance and determination, creative and strategic thinking and a huge amount of hard work. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.

Imogen’s appointment represents an exciting and pivotal moment for HRAFF as we look to engage with more audiences, further advocate for human rights and deepen our impact.
